I happen to know that this is not quite the most accurate translation of the original Middle English. The original text--"What shuld I wonde?/Of destinies derf and dere,/What may mon do bot fonde?"--indicates trying more than daring, which is sad because the daring is my favorite part. I guess this is one of those examples where the translator takes liberties and sacrifices one aspect of the original to uphold some other. And in this strange case, I like the translation more than the original anyway.
